Principle and application of Multi-channel automatic potentiometric titrator

January 16, 2024

Automatic potentiometric titration device is a high-precision electrochemical analysis instrument for volumetric analysisusing potentiometric titration method.

It adopts modular design and consists of volumetric titration device, control deviceand testing device.

It can carry out acid-base titration, REDOX, precipitation and complexation titration.

The instrumenthas the functions of constant titration, micro titration, end-point setting titration, volume setting titration and mode titrationUsers can also build their own special titration methods according to their actual needs.

Principle

Detection principle:During the titration process, different potential changes occur in the solution in the titration cell. When the potential change of △E/△V is greater than the threshold value, it is the equivalence point value. When the setting condition is satisfied, the instrument is transferred to the stop procedure, the titration is stopped and the determination results are given.

Application

Automatic potentiometric titrator is a general basic equipment in the laboratory, which is widely used. It can be used in food, drug inspection, disease control, commodity inspection, water treatment, petroleum, chemical industry, marine, electric power, environmental protection, new energy, teaching, scientific research and other related fields.

Practical application

Acid-base titration,e.g. oxalic acid (aqueous phase/non-aqueous phase) content

Redox titration,e.g. iodine value, iron(II) content

Precipitation titration,e.g. chloride content

Complex titration,e.g. calcium content,

Titration with polarizing electrodes (Ipol, Upol)

Operation

1.Prepare the sample: Dissolve the sample to be tested in an appropriate solvent to reach the appropriate concentration.

2.Prepare reagents: Prepare the required reagents according to the titration method.

3.Prepare the potentiometric titrator: open the potentiometric titrator and run the self-test program according to the prompts to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.

4.Select electrodes: Choose appropriate electrodes. According to the characteristics of the measured sample, select the appropriate electrode type, size and material.

5.Measurement operation: Add the sample solution into the flask, start adding reagents, measure the volume of each reagent added with a potentiometric titrator, and record the corresponding potential and the volume corresponding to the potential. Until the elimination end point, the potential will change sharply. At this time, elimination ends, and the volume corresponding to the elimination end point is recorded.

6.Calculation results: Calculate the concentration of the substance contained in the sample based on the volume and concentration corresponding to the titration.

7.Cleaning and maintenance: After the measurement, clean the potentiometric titrator and the electrodes used in time to keep the equipment clean and operating normally.

The above is the method of using the potentiometric titrator. Users should choose the appropriate method for measurement according to the actual situation, and maintain normal maintenance and upkeep of the equipment to ensure the quality and accuracy of the measurement.
